H.P. Lovecraft once wrote to Rheinhart Kleiner that when he writes stories “Edgar Allan Poe is my model.” In this second re-issue from AMWAGM (originally released as a professionally-pressed CD-R by the band in 2009) the boys take the atmospheres created by these two legendary greats of horror and terrifying mystery and bring them to audible life.
The songs are slow and deliberate with sounds and vocals emerging from the ethereal ether only to lull the damned deeper into their mysteries. These songs don’t mask their menace; in particular the two versions of Poe’s Annabel Lee, which perfectly compliment the line readings of Lovecraft’s “A Fisherman at Falcon Point." The New England shoreline at night is a mesmerizing mix of melancholy and beauty and these songs bring that feeling to vivid life.
